Privacy and Optional Research Invitation

The local manager, this website and an optional research panel have different data flows.

The Local EXE-Locking Application

The normal lock/unlock workflow operates on local files. It keeps encrypted recovery records containing information such as file paths, file identity, original permissions, hashes and timestamps in the selected local vault directory. The management password derives the vault encryption key. File contents are not uploaded as part of that workflow.

A separate local directory catalogue records the paths of successfully opened profile folders so safe uninstall can check each vault. It does not store management passwords or the contents of your EXE files. Preserve these directories and the catalogue until uninstall checks finish.

Theme preferences are stored locally. Website links selected by you open in your browser. Exported recovery kits are files you choose where to save; protect them and the matching passwords.

This Website

Loading a page or downloading a file sends ordinary HTTP requests to the hosting service. Those requests can include the IP address, requested path, browser information and request time in server access/security logs. This static site does not require a user account or a login to download the application. External links use the policies of their respective services.

Optional RelevantKnowledge Invitation

Setup may show an optional RelevantKnowledge research invitation. You can decline or skip it and still install the full free EXE-locking app. Accepting is not required for file protection.

RelevantKnowledge is separate research software from TMRG, a Comscore company. If you agree to participate, it can collect browsing and application activity in the background. Read the current invitation, privacy policy and agreement before deciding. The publisher may receive compensation if you join.

If accepted, remove RelevantKnowledge separately in Windows Settings → Apps. Removing Free EXE Lock does not by itself remove the research software. Silent setup skips the invitation; it does not silently opt you in.
